Over the past year, we have gratefully received several donations from the US troops who train at Fort Irwin.  On February 26, 2010, we also received donations from the Canadian troops who had been training at Fort Irwin.

This leftover food from the troops helps Desert Manna restock our shelves and the excess food we can't store is given to other programs in Barstow who serve meals to low-income and homeless people (such as the Barstow Senior Citizens Center and New Life Fellowship Church).  We also redistribute the food to programs in the Victorville area such as the First Assembly of God's Feed My Sheep program, the Victor Valley Rescue Mission, High Desert VB Ministries, and more.

We are so grateful that the troops are willing to volunteer their time to load the food at Fort Irwin, drive it to Desert Manna, and help unload it. 

In the summer of 2009, IAP Worldwide Services, a private contractor at Fort Irwin, notified Desert Manna that they had available surplus furniture to donate.  We were able to organize various nonprofits who needed furniture and go to Fort Irwin to pick it up.
